...Front Line and Puppy in one night?! A dream come true!

I don't rate remix albums, because they're just that remix abums - it's not Front Line Assembly making the music but ANYWAYS.... Are FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY replacing VNVN Nation in SKINNY PUPPY's TOUR with Youth Code???? THAT'S INCREDIBLE

skinnydrifter - it's not, that I don't want them to sound more modern (I'm one of the blokes who actually prefer Implode over Hard Wired). I just don't want them to sound like a cheesy euro pop band, that's all. And there's too many songs on Echoes (especially the second non-remix track, which is a suck-fest) AND Echogenetics, which follow that pattern. I wish it would be different, but I'm heavily disappointed. I hope, that'll change

there is some serious confusion and idiocy being posted in this box. "skinny puppy aren't as good as vac and fla" "i like the older stuff but this newer stuff while not as good might be better" just reaffirming that this band is listened to by really smart people..

Implode is so far my favorite FLA release.

Blood is the SICKest song ever. FLA has been around for millenia it seems, so they won't (and shouldn't be expected) to impress every single fan with the same basic formula every album -- I'm glad they changed. Also how can they be blamed for the remixes other artists have done for them? (Echoes is a remix album, Yod801, but Kudos...) All I can say is stay faithful, their old music isn't going anywhere.

Speaking as a sci-fi fan, I can honestly say I enjoy Front Line Assembly's work more than any other sci-fi work of any medium (this goes for films too) as far as aesthetic goes.

Christ, I was a hardcore fan owning every fucking album on CD, even the singles and 95% of all side projects, some even on LP additionaly, but to be honest, Echogenetics and the remix album have convinced me, that FLA have lost it all. There's just 2 songs on Echogenetics I kind of like, It's a pity, really. Some tracks on Echoes even remind me of the cheesiest 80ies Italo disco tracks I can remember from teenage days. Hopefuly FLA will wake up in shame some day and get their stuff together again. Until then I will listen closely before I buy any new release

Some of their recent works are less enjoyable but generally I think their newer stuff may be even better than the 90's era FLA [2]

While I like 'Hard Wired' the most there is something about 'Millenium' that makes me go back to that album.

Well fucking boo fucking hoo. If you so much love Skinny Puppy, whatever they do. Go and listen to them then. For me their at best decent work was always over rated. VAC and FLA do it better :)

it was a matter of time they bounced into dubstep and made it edgy and captivating, i love Echogenetic (song) and i will definitely check out the rest of this album, good work

  • Nihilistic23

@Nihil227: Your statement is invalid because "Complexity" wasn't on the original 1987 edition of the "Initial Command", it's a bonustrack from the mid 90's, the original opener was "The State". Also "The Initial Command" was more like Frontline's 3rd album already after "Total Terror" and "Nerve War", so it would be pretty dull to make a connection to Skinny Puppy at that point ...

I really do appreciate what this band has done for modern ebm/industrial as a whole. Gotta say I much prefer the 90's era FLA over the new stuff. Echogenetic was a solid album in its own merits, and helped re-introduce me to the band's back catalog all over again.

Hard Wired is the best album made by FLA imo, Infra Red Combat & Modus Operandi being the best songs on that album.

    January 2014
  • Nihil227

So I've been through half of their discography (chronologically) and I'm not sure i want to keep on. Is it normal that when listening to FLA, the only feeling i get is "I'd rather be listening to Skinny Puppy"? Funny thing imo their best track is the opener of their first album, Complexity.

V I don't like infected mushrooms new albums or new sound, but I don't hate them nor call their new albums bad. Stop being a baby. This happens every time FLA releases a new album. When they used guitars, people cried, when they used break beats, people cried, etc. They've always incorporated sounds of what was popular at the time and always experimented with a new sound every new album, it's what FLA does. It's just that industrial fans feel the need to rebel against everything that's popular. Dubstep is/was the new thing. Give it a few years and echogenetic will be considered a good album, just like what happened with millennium. oh wait, uhh, I mean, grrr dubstep bad, pop is bad, front line assembly, more like front line skrillsux >:(

basically they see comments like "Echogenetic its not good :( " as "I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!!!!! WAAAAAA! "

    November 2013
  • Isaaaaaak

V below we have the typical example of a person too emotionally attached to a band to form a real opinion. this is typically revealed when the band makes a "change in direction" to the backlash of those who enjoyed their older stuff based on musical quality. because the band now sucks people will point out that they're shit now and wax nostalgic over their earlier superior material. this will hurt the feeling of drooling drones who will then hyperbolise the discontent of annoyed fans by doing that V and come across as pathetic children who have soiled themselves.
