Frenzal Rhomb is a Newtown, -based four-piece that officially came together in 1994.

Members are:
Vocals - Jason Whalley (Jay)
Guitar - Lindsay McDougall
Bass - Tom Crease
Drums - Gordy Foreman

Jay and Lindsay had a morning spot on Australia’s Triple J radio station (Jay and The Doctor).

Long standing favourites of the sydney music scene, have been good to their fans by playing many all ages shows. Their first EP ‘Dick Sandwich’ was produced in bassy grunge style and included a cover of the theme to ‘home and away’, a crappy Australian soap; as well as a song about Roger Climpson a TV news presenter. Their seminal album Coughing up a Storm followed. Sadly this CD is now out of print in its original version which included an abusive and threatening voicemail as its secret track. Moving on the band has replaced all its original members except Jason in semi-controvertial circumstances. Ben the original guitarist was first to go, he supposedly left to become an animal rights activist. Nat the drummer was next, to focus on his other band Quadbox. Lex was an awesome bass player and is sadly missed.

Jay spent some time as the bass player for Nancy Vandal under the name Jason Jasonn Beers.

The current band is just as funny, famously playing the intro to AC/DC’s thunderstruck over the top of an announcement been made by Today-FM ‘s breakfast show host Jackie-O at the Bass in the grass festival, ending with said person leaving the stage in tears

(see here for part transcript of what was said.)
