Free Marconi is a hip-hop duo consisting of Terry Mic and Duke Long. The two share production and rapping duties, creating a sound inspired by 90s style hip-hop.

Friends since high school, the duo formed Free Marconi in 2009 and released the first 3 songs from their ongoing and upcoming album “Plead the Fifth” in September of that year. The songs blend witty lyrics consisting of frequent pop culture references, punchlines, and traditional braggadocio and party raps with funky, boom-bap beats. The group plans to release additional song blocks every couple months, following the 3P model of releasing music.

Influences include Cypress Hill, House of Pain, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, and Lazy Sunday.

Free Marconi lives and breathes Music 2.0 – an ongoing, DIY approach to sharing music that is collaborative and embraces social networking and emerging technologies. They use this approach not only to help listeners discover their own music, but to share their experiences with other independent musicians wishing to connect with fans.
