A collaboration of Freddie Mercury from Queen and superstar opera singer Montserrat Caballé. Freddie had always been a big fan of Montserrat Caballé, so when he got the chance to record with her, he jumped on the opportunity. The two originally planned to record only one track, Barcelona - the theme song for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games held in Barcelona, Catalonia. After starting to work together and developing appreciation and respect for each other’s music and voices, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé went on to record a whole album Barcelona. Caballé was asked to sing Barcelona at the opening of the Olympic Games in 1992, however she declined as Freddie Mercury, then deceased, could not be present.
