Biography

Fred Jimenez was born in France in August 66 but has grown up in Geneva, Switzerland. At the age of fourteen, he learned to play guitar and started forming rock bands. At that time he was living pretty close to a rock club but as he was too young to see the gigs, he used to watch the soundchecks. Waiting impatiently for the bands to arrive, helping them to unload the van. Geneva had a very good musical selection at those times and Fred saw a lot of good gigs that influenced him a lot; he’s self-taught and learned many things watching the others play. At the age of nineteen he joined “The Needles”, Swiss garage and melodic band. He stayed six years with them, recorded 3 LPs and several singles produced by Robin Wills from the Barracudas. He was one of the singers-composers of the band which played a lot in Europe.

In 96 he released a solo album, “Du gazon entre les oreilles”, singing in French, and went on tour with Polar, a Swiss-Irish singer. During this period he was DJ too, playing black and soul music from the sixties or seventies while everybody played house or techno music.

At the end of the nineties he left Geneva for Paris, France and worked for the French label Tricatel as a bass player. He was one of the for ming members of AS Dragon which was at those times the backing band for the label, playing on stage and on records with different artists like Bertrand Burgalat, Michel Houellebecq, April March, Depeche Mode… and travelled all around the world.
