“Ellens dritter Gesang” (“Ellen’s Third Song”), was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825 as part of his Opus 52, a setting of seven songs from Walter Scott’s popular epic poem “The Lady of the Lake”, loosely translated into German. It has become one of Schubert’s most popular works, recorded by a wide variety and large number of singers, under the title of “Ave Maria”, in arrangements with various lyrics which commonly differ from the original context of the poem.

ClassyMusicSlob, I agree most music today is crap, however I do not mind if the classics are known partly through video games. It is a differant way of bringing real music to a segment of the current generation. Who knows, maybe listening to some classical while their storming the castle so to speak it might inspire an interest to listen to more. Once more, keeping it alive even in that medium of video games a future generation may fall in love with it and share it through whatever medium they may have in the future. I'm sure Schubert could not have imagoned use listening to Ave Maria on our mp3, iTunes or CD's in a horseless carrage (car). We need to be open minded and none judgemental. Blessings

Definitely a dirty pedal, but I'd prefer to hear any version of Ave Maria than none. It's just sad that my favorite music service has chosen this one =( But still, 99% of the time Last.fm does a marvellous job, so I can only restrain any further complaints ^~^
