Lucid Dreams (3:40)

Cover of Tonight: Franz Ferdinand

From Tonight: Franz Ferdinand and 4 other releases

“Lucid Dreams” is a single from the Scottish band Franz Ferdinand, appearing on their latest album Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. Originally only listenable through a static-covered stream on the band’s website and the video game Madden NFL 09, it was released as a single through iTunes on August 19, 2008 (despite an earlier message on the band’s diary having stated “it’s not a single”). This version is available as an iTunes bonus track to the album and also a B-Side to No You Girls. The single differs from the version that appears on Tonight: Franz Ferdinand and has been described by several reviewers as the highlight or magnum opus of the album. The pre-album bridge now starts the song, the chorus has been revised and the original second verse and ending are omitted, with an almost four minute ‘acid trance’ instrumental taking their place.

I was going to say something about this song but the truth is already here: Every time I listen to this I wait in anticipation for the second half of the song. Best part. [2] The album version gives me so much eargasms. [3] This is a song you should listen to with earphones. It's quite the experience. [6]

I sooo love this song! Alex's voice sounds so cool and I'm totally loving the electronica! I run everyday to Tonight and this is my sprint song! I especially love the trance bit, so very cool with earbuds in.
