Cosmik Debris is a song by American composer Frank Zappa, from his 1974 album Apostrophe (‘).

It concerns the Mystery Man, a typical guru or psychic, offering to help the narrator reach Nirvana for a “nominal service charge,” and the narrator’s refusal to buy into his act, “Look here, brother, who you jiving with that cosmik debris?” When the Mystery Man gets pushy, Zappa as the narrator tells how he snatched the crystal ball, hypnotized the Mystery Man, stole his stuff and blew his mind.

The song was popular on the Dr. Demento Show in the 70’s, and in Zappa’s concerts, with memorable guitar solos from Zappa, also featuring George Duke on keyboard and Napoleon Murphy Brock on sax.

Zappa would let no one in his band to play under the influence. He wanted everyone to be on their game.

Zappa was the man. Some of hte best music to ever be played. He was a genius in many ways, not just musically. Love watching his old interviews about 1st amendment rights. REALLY GREAT STUFF!

reply:nicorebel Did he do drugs. or was his wish to have everyone, including himself to be purely expressive, without drugs? A challenge, to be sure, but it would really help strengthen the mind, and create an exploratory sensory experience. That's my opinion, at the very least, per regards to the vision of a mental landscape, affecting the imagination in a positive and nurturing way.

Frank Zappa = Musical Genius. Musically, lyrically, there is hardly any equal to him.
