Biography

With a career that runs the gamut from collaborating on worldwide classics like “Yin” and “Yang”, to designing sounds for Ableton, Roland, and Korg, to serving as Technology Editor for Beatportal.com - Francis Prève’s contributions to the EDM community have earned him a unique place in the pantheon of producers. While many of his high-profile colleagues have opted to specialize, focusing their talents on production or DJing, Prève’s boundless enthusiasm for sound itself has placed him squarely at the intersection of both the technology world and dance community at large.

In 2007, Francis added DJing to his considerable list of technical skills. Drawing on his deep experience with Ableton, Prève’s unique approach to whipping up funky tech sets on the fly has earned him main stage slots in legendary clubs like Pacha NYC, Cielo NYC, Avalon Hollywood, Ruby Skye San Francisco and Melkweg Amsterdam.

Most recently, Prève’s work has included high-profile remixes for legendary DJs like Sander Kleinenberg and Dave Seaman/Josh Gabriel, as well as pop hipsters Dragonette and Winter Kills. His original productions, like “Yin/Yang” (with Wolfgang Gartner), “Servo vs. Colossus” (with Gabriel & Dresden), “Get Down” (with John Acquaviva and Olivier Giacomotto), “GTFO”, “Colossus”, “Marina”, “Hasown”, and “Flotsam/Jetsam” have received support from top-tier DJs ranging from Kaskade to Benny Benassi to Tiesto.

Even with a full-time artist career taking off, Prève recently launched his own imprint, Academik Records, a label devoted not only to music but to sound itself.
