of course in the fairport world- dave mattacks pretty much on his own- but jerry conway i has a new respect after i saw him with RT in the early 80's-really great in a completely different way

quite right about jerry-too bad he did get the attention rt did--- because he's a hell of a guitarist.

I agree, Jerry Donohue is every bit as good as RT, perhaps a bit overlooked because he is a "guitarist's guitarist"? what he can't do with a Telecaster probably ain't worth doing. I had the good fortune of meeting him a few years ago when he was playing with Big Brother and the Holding Company, and he's a really nice bloke - he was telling me about the preparations for Fotheringay 2, which was well worth the 30-odd year's wait. also a shout out for the drumming on this track, marvellous, and of course Sandy's incomparable voice.

The album "Fotheringay" was one of the first I ever bought, back when vinyl was all we had. Hearing it now, even without the hiss, scratches and crackle, brings it all back.

jerry donahue has several solo albums out as well as playing with the 'hellecasters' - alot of string bending on several albums-based out of L.A. i believe

For what it's worth I reckon the guitarist Gerry Donnahue is/was every bit as good as Richard Thompson. Incredibly overlooked.

I think Sandy saved some of her best songs for this album. Dark, brooding and powerful, they'll last for ever
