“If Former Cell Mates were in charge of drive-time radio playlists, life would be that bit sweeter.” Rock Sound.

Former Cell Mates answered their calling in the fruitless, barren wasteland that was the music scene of the new millennium. Armed with cheap guitars, premium lager and fatigued by the numerous insipid Indie bedroom dwellers, Punk rock fashionistas and pretenders to the rock and roll throne, Former Cell Mates made it their aim to put the soul back into rock ‘n’ roll.

“Raucous punk-rawk … sounds great to the sober ear but to the sozzled brain, it sounds mighty.” NME

Original yet familiar, Former Cell Mates sound has often been likened to the punk rock garage frenzy of Mudhoney combined with driving rock sensibilities of early Police with the ragged, drunken soul of The Replacements watching over them. This is hardly astounding when one takes into account their rock ‘n’ roll resume, which includes such bands as The Coyote men, The Golden Virgins, Leatherface and The Illegal Movers.
“Soulful… Sweaty and wired… Former Cell Mates have the melodic driving punk thing locked down.” Kerrang

The second half of 2005 saw their debut full length released on The Newest Industry record label, “hustle” earned Former Cell Mates the international recognition they so richly deserve, combined with an explosive live show “… heavy as fuck, tight as fuck and seemingly ripped to the tits on something nasty, they burn with anger and passion.” (Bunker) Former Cell Mates become the answer to the question you’ve been asking yourself for years…

Former Cell Mates are what happens next, believe it!
