21 Mar 2008, 12:13 by greyskyThe sound of horns; rising from the distance, gradually getting louder and louder. That sound is the arrival of Foals' debut album 'Antidotes' and more importantly, the sound of them shaking off the hype that's been plaguing them in recent months, and making the record they wanted to make. Ever since 'Hummer' and 'Mathletics' hit the new music scene like meteorites, indie kids everywhere have been dancing and screaming like their feet are on fire. Which may be why both tracks were left off here. Foals may lose some of those fans who were initially numbed by the relentlessly catchy first singles, but they'll win serious music fans, of all ages. Because anyone with an ear of the original will fall in love with 'Antidotes'.
Back to those horns: 'The French Open' opens as a slow build up which climaxes with the repeated yelp of "Un peu d'air sur la terre!" - apparently inspired by the beauty in Andy Roddick's tennis serve. It's a fair representation for the rest of the album; powerful repeated vocals…

We Are Scientists haben ihr neues Album endlich draussen!
meld mich dannn wieder

15 Mar 2008, 19:16 by GinnonYeah, well I'm pretty gutted Foals cancelled, oh sorry, rearranged their gig at The Norwich Waterfront yesterday.
Actually, I think crestfallen is a better word.
Basically, we drove all the way from Lincoln and along the way had to buy four new tyres for the car and got stuck in traffic because of a crash. And when we finally got there I just knew what was going to happen because I saw that the outside of the venue was empty.
As we went towards it, the security woman had to tell us it was cancelled and we all went away very... upset.
We went to see There Will Be Blood at the cinema which was very good but all the way through it I couldn't help thinking "I could have been at Foals now".
Apparently, according to the venue staff, the band tried to put a message on Radio 1 to say it was cancelled but I avoid listening to that shit anyway so I wouldn't have heard it. And when I got home today (we'd even booked a hotel!) I found I'd been sent an email at 16.30-ish on the 14th. What a load of help that was.
