Cassie (2:58)

Cover of Flyleaf

From Flyleaf and 5 other releases

This song is about Cassie Bernall, a student at Columbine High School who was killed in the massacre that occurred there. It was reported that her killer asked her twice if she believed in God or not. The first shot did not kill her so she was asked again. She still said yes knowing what would happen. According to some accounts the question “Do you believe in God?” was actually asked by shooter Dylan Klebold to Valeen Schnurr, a student who survived the Columbine Massacre.

Despite the obvious religion in the song, it's a great song, the girl in the Columbine Massacre stood up for what she believed in. I'll still listen to the song, idk.

@DeathNoteAddict I don't remember the exact words, but in the Bible there is a verse that says, "If you deny me (God) before men, I will deny you the gates of heaven". So she believed that if she denied her belief in God then, and then died, she would have gone to hell.

More have died for the sake of Christ in the last 100 years, than in the previous 1900 years combined. Painful, yes, but not a waste. In the second or third century Tertullian said, "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.” Casey is the seed of the church.

No offense, but.. I think that's really.. "stupid" that she said yes... I mean, you can't tell a little lie that you don't mean, to save your life? @inspectchenk Actually that likely would've been true, but still, maybe he wouldn't have. (Maybe he would've gone to kill someone else?) ..But at least try saying "no" Why not? ....And of course, I'm not religious at all, so perhaps I just don't understand.. >.> I do understand that a lot or ppl are killed in the name of religion though. Just "imagine" life without... /:

Even if Cassie said: "NO, I don't believe". "Son of a Gun" would kill anyway. Imho, he was joking.

Love the sound and the message. Hundreds say, "Yes," daily throughout the world, a bit hard to relate to here in the States, but something to ponder
