Flowers For Dorian

Bred out of the remains of past metal outfits, Flowers For Dorian began in a basement nestled in the northern Chicago suburbs in December of 2005. The band, comprised of veterans of the vexing Chicago hardcore scene, ventured in a new direction musically following the disbandment of the underground metal band Beneath This Ashen Sky. While the technical guitar riffs and animated drumming of old did not relinquish, Flowers For Dorian slowly honed their new artistic ideas into a perfect indie rock/pop sound. Following the recording of a two-song demo in early 2006, the band’s original lineup with Jeremy Lewis on bass and drummer Stevo Haramantas, proceeded to cut their teeth in the Chicago underground hardcore/punk scene. After a brief hiatus in the fall of 2006, the band reformed in the winter with new focus. Alongside vocalist/guitarist Tyler Hall and guitarist Matt Sczech, new drummer Marc Esses joined the fold as well. With longtime friend, bassist James Feuerbacher joining the band shortly thereafter, the lineup was finally complete. In the band’s albeit brief tenure, the acclaimed death pop foursome has gained much notoriety for their sinuous melodies and chaotic live shows. And while the band has graced the stage of many esteemed Chicago venues—The Metro, Beat Kitchen, Logan Square Auditorium, Lakeshore Theater, et al—Flowers For Dorian is still no stranger to busted PA systems at basement gigs, roller rinks and hole-in-the-wall bars.
