Biography

Five Star - a 5 piece British Pop Group, famous for their own made costumes and energetic dance routines, had huge success in the 1980s.

Five Star are siblings Deniece (later to be called ‘Denise’) Pearson (lead vocals/song writer), Stedman Pearson (costume designer), Lorraine Pearson (spokesperson & song writer), Doris Pearson (choregrapher) and Delroy Pearson (song writer & producer).

Born in Romford Essex to record owner Buster Pearson. At the age of 15 Deniece pursuaded her dad to allow Deniece and her sisters to record ‘Problematic’. The Pearson parents liked what they heard but also insisted that Deniece’s brothers joined the group - hence Five Star were born.

In 1983 Five Star appeared on BBC’s Pebble Mill at One singing and dancing to ‘Problematic’. The BBC switchboard was jamed with record companies wanting to sign the group - Buster said the group were signed to his label Tent Records but they needed a larger company to buy Tent records and hence aquire Five Star. RCA/BMG snapped up the young group and in 1984 their debut single ‘Hide and Seek’ was released (at the time youngest member Delroy was still at high school and lead singer Deniece had only just left school). Neither ‘Hide and Seek’ or its follow-up ‘Crazy’ managed to chart.

Those of you (like me) living in the United Kingdom will be able to see Five Star's lead singer, Denise Pearson taking part as one of the contestants in tonight's episode of music competition 'The Voice UK'. It will be showing on BBC1 at 7pm. For those of you outside of the UK, you may be able to watch it on iPlayer or youtube. Let's hope she does well in the competition!

I would love remasters of BTL and RTW..HOWEVER the last remasters were not so good. Lots of material missing like the 7" remixes, 'Problematic', the actual single version of 'The Slightest Touch' etc etc. 'How Dare You (Stay Out of My Life)' etc.

I LOVE YOU FIVE STAR. YOUR MUSIC GIVES ME GOOSE BUMPS UP AND DOWN MY SPINE. I EVEN LIKE YOU BETTER THAN MICHAEL JACKSON ( MAY HE REST IN PEACE). YOUR LOOK I WOULD DESCRIBE AS EXOTIC. YOU`RE ALL SO VERY ATTRACTIVE. I WISH THE VIDEO" ALL FALL DOWN" COULD WORK NORMALLY ON MY PC. OH... AND ONE MORE THING... COULD YOU PLEASE COME BACK.

They are on iTunes (at least in UK & Europe). Their Greatest Hits and the 1990, 1992, 1995 & 2001 albums are anyway. Admittley the earliest albums 1985,1986, 1987 & 1998 are not on iTunes but most of the best stuff is on the 1989 'Greatest Hits' album (which is on iTunes).
