Fires in Roam formed in Austin, TX late December of 2005. Drummer Davy Simmons and guitarist Arin Robinson worked together in a project with growing success in the Austin music scene, but they decided to venture into a new avenue. They were joined by Dwight Landen, an old friend of Davy from the El Paso music scene of the mid ’90s and guitar player. The quartet was rounded out thereafter with Zulema Quintanilla, a Austin punk scene favorite on bass. After only three months, they began recording their first self-released EP, Split the Difference, and are currently playing shows in the Austin area.
Their sound can be summed up as indie meets progressive with influences ranging from the The Pixies to Jawbox. At times mild mannered and sometimes aggressive and poignant, their music illustrates their vast influences as well as their love for writing.
