About this album

Spinefarm (2006) Released: 4 Apr 2006 11 tracks (32:16)
Visor om slutet (English: Songs About the End) is an all-acoustic folk metal album by the Finnish band Finntroll. It was released in 2003 by Spinefarm. It was the first album to feature Tapio Wilska on vocals.

Visor om slutet was released after a number of misfortunes befell several band members, including the death of guitarist Teemu Raimoranta whom the album is dedicated to. It was recorded in a cabin off in the woods near Helsinki, coined as an “acoustic experiment,” and features the use of traditionally non-metal instruments such as the kazoo. Though quite different in its sound to the viking metal-inspired Jaktens tid, the album was a relative success.

Line - Up

* Sami “Tundra” Uusitalo
* Henri “Trollhorn” Sorvali
* Jan “Katla” Jämsen
* Tapio Wilska
* Samu “Beast Dominator” Ruotsalainen

Trivia

Katla had already left Finntroll before the album was recorded in February 2003,
but participated in the session as a farewell gesture.

Also released as a limited edition, which includes a Finntroll sticker and a
Finntroll patch.

Green vinyl version limited to 500 copies.

    Beautiful. Really good. Great when you're drunk and troll-partying. [3] Do a couple of the tracks remind anyone of Homeworld's soundtrack?

    @divinehatred, I think you'll find fans of many various genres can be a bunch of assholes. When people get too fanatical about something, they get annoying to everyone else. That said, those hardcore black metal fans are surely among the worst. What's interesting to me about the whole folk metal genre is that it has had so many black metal elements in it. Not so much this album though hehe.

    Metalheads, especially black metallers are cocks. What's funny is, they hate "mainstream" music, by liking something different, yet when a band doesn't follow a strict path so to speak they slate it so much! this album owns by the way, I like black metal but the fans are pathetic.

    And of course it's understandable why many metalheads would consider this album a boring piece of shit or one big interlude. It's ok, not for everyone! A little bit outside of what you would expect, and some people can't handle it. When I listen to it there is a constant smile on my face even if I'm just sitting and listening to it alone. Warms the heart, and if it doesn't provide the same warmth and happiness to you, it's just your own loss :)

    It's no secret that Finntroll sound like they have way too much fun making any album, but this one in particular sounds extra fun, doesn't it? And I mean both to make and to listen to.

    This album is a joke... it's one big interlude.
