About this album
Be Human is the third studio album by English alternative rock band Fightstar, released on 19 April 2009 through Search and Destroy Records.
The iTunes download includes a bonus track which is an acoustic version of “Unfamiliar Ceilings”, the final track on the band’s previous studio album, One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours, performed with former XFM presenter Katie P.
The album entered the UK Albums Chart at number 20, making it their highest charting album to date.
The album was met with very positive critical reviews upon its release. Many critics praised the band for experimenting with the orchestration elements and ultimately expanding their song writing capabilities and sound as a whole.
Anton Djamoos of AbsolutePunk.net rated the album 84% and stated that it’s time for the US to “finally take notice of Fightstar”. He also added that Be Human “is the album that can do this and, with it, Fightstar is poised to finally see some long-overdue respect”. In the News writer Lewis Bazley awarded the album 9/10 and summarised, “Strings and choirs crash from the heavens as Charlie Simpson and company live up to their potential on an outstanding third album”. Emma Johnston, a critic for British rock magazine Kerrang!, awarded the album KKKK’s (4/5) and commented the band had “created a huge-hearted, earnest, wonderfully over the top album”.
