Biography

Fever Sleeves has carved out a definitive niche for themselves in the San Diego music scene. Springing from the fertile loins of the prestigious Black Box Studios of San Diego they have defied and exceeded the expectations of the math rock genre the wider world puts them in. With elements of post-hardcore and indie rock/pop they have delighted their fans and critics. Influenced by bands like No Knife, Q and Not U, Radiohead, and Refused, Fever Sleeves has combined angular guitars, off-beat rhythms, spastic drumming, and floating vocal melodies to create a truly distinctive and original sound.

Conceived in 2004 by founding members vocalist/bassist/guitarist Tony Gidlund, drummer Bill Szafranski, and guitarist Nick Lorentz, they didn’t burst into the larger musical consciousness until the 2008 release of their first single “Futuristic Killings”. The EP was quickly followed by the release of their first full album, “Soft Pipes, Play On” in early 2009, which was met with empowering reviews.

Since the release of the album, Fever Sleeves had been searching for a full-time bassist to complete their desired sound, and in July of 2009 found him in the form of Lain Weck, a San Diego transplant from Chicago. With the addition of Weck the sound of the band has matured and become more dynamic in both songwriting and performances.

Fever Sleeves has demonstrated a passion and ferocity for their brand of musical creativity that has defined their sound and presence.
