Felis Domesticus is a finnish pop/rock group with progressive rock elements such as odd time signatures, jazzy chords, bizzare lyrical views and sometimes lengthy and/or experimental compositions, influenced by some of the modern day finnish prog related bands like Absoluuttinen Nollapiste and Liekki, the 70’s finnish prog bands like Tasavallan Presidentti, Wigwam and Tabula Rasa and such giants of progressive rock like Pink Floyd, Genesis, Camel, King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Rush and Yes. The band was founded in spring of 2005 by Ville Mäki-Tuuri and Mikko Järvinen who had played together in several bands since 2001. After a few lineup changes, the group formed it’s first stable lineup in October 2005. In spring of 2006 the band began recording their debut album, a vanity press edition CD called “Tansseja jalattomille”, which wasn’t released until January 2007 due to overall laziness and problems with equipment.

Shortly after that the band went on hiatus because of it’s members’ military service, but the new ep “Menetyksen avaimet” was released in January 2008 and the band started being active again in summer of 2008. In September, Järvinen and Mäki-Tuuri both gave up their vocal duties to Päivi Salminen. In the end of the year 2009 the band recorded it’s first release with Salminen on vocals, a 3-song promotion single “Maailman viimeinen päivä”.
