Such a fucking grower. I'll always love Mouth but I feel like even this tops that. Very different but If anything the band made an album current for them at that moment. Regardless I'm stoked on the band and every release. The last two albums will always be special for me. Complimentary sides of the same coin.

I don't really like comparing this band's albums because they are all so different, but this album is a lot more focused than TAOM. I guess a lot of people just dismiss it because it is so different to anything else out there...

I have no problem with the name change really. It doesn't effect me all that much. It doesn't change the fact that this is a great album, or at least I enjoy it, and that's all that matters to me. Fear Before the March of Flames or just simply Fear Before, they will always be the same to me. Anyways, pretty good album. Also, I just purchased a Fear Before shirt today, and am wearing it now. :]

Every artist falls into the same "mistake" sometimes, they did it by releasing The Always Open Mouth. They'll never be able to overperform that. There are 3-4 great songs on this new stuff, the rest is average and boring.

I don't give a shit, I loved all their releases previous and this one is a masterpiece. It is my favorite, the name change is symbolic as their music has changed.

i bought this album when it came out in october and wasn't very impresed with it. i really never cared much about this group until TAOM came out. i fell in love with taht record. but like the person below me said, after letting this album grow on me its all i've been listening to all week. i fucking love it. i dont think they'll ever be able to top TAOM, that was their masterpiece. but i fucking love this album and cant wait for next one. keep on keepin on fear before. and keep making the music you want to make.

No, it's not catchy, but it grows on you and i agree the name change sucks.

...I'm sorry, but the album is not catchy at all. Is their new name Fear Before? That's stupid.

I give them major props for having the balls to experiment like that and add new elements to their sound, but this album is a definite step down from TAOM. I didn't like TAOM at first either, but after running it through my headphones a couple times it really grew on me and it became one of my all time favorites. Having said that, I was anxiously waiting for Fear Before to come out. And it's dissapointed me big time. I tried so hard to get into it, I gave it lots of listens to grow on me, but it just hasn't happened. Yeah, the vocals are really experimental and unconventional, but also really annoying at times (Treeman). And the lyrics... I'm not the type of person that cares about them (I don't always understand them anyway), but you can't not notice the clumsiness of lines like "everything's not shitteeeeah". Music-wise, gone are the brutal hardcore bursts, strong melodies and delicious electronics of AOTM. This is just a slightly-above-average post-hardcore (whatever) album. Shame.
