All of the albums from their first phase are amazing, essential works, but this one is just the slightest bit below the rest of them for me. Faust IV improves on this album's attempt at a slightly more conventional type of music and Faust and The Faust Tapes are brimming with ideas and innovation. For me it's between the debut and Tapes for their best; I consider both to be two of the best albums of all time. Anyway, there's a lot to love on So Far as well.

    It's better than both.

Very underrated, I'd say it's almost just as good as Faust I or IV.

What a mindblower of an album. I bought it when it was first released and listening to So Far again it still sounds the towering masterpiece that it was. Every track a total revelation. Crazy memories come flooding back.

'It's a Rainy Day Sunshine Girl' was apparently written because someone complained that you couldn't dance to 'Why Don't You Eat Carrots' from the first album. Mesmerising live.

I'll say it as well "this is the greatest avant-rock album ever. It is absolutely perfect in every way. Best Faust album, best Krautrock album, etc, etc. "
