They sound a lot better than the recent Incantation albums.

Their most recent album has the most memorable riffs, but just about all of their material is pretty great. Nasty death metal approached and executed the right way.

finally getting Father Befouled, though, took me awhile, whereas bands like Blaspherian and Dead Congregation cliked right away.

darkgnome: You have Tool in your top 5 so i'm happy you don't like this. Actually, you don't have a single death metal band in your top 500 so i don't even know how you found this band.

Yeah must be boring as there is nothing hip about this band. Only true death metal!

People hating on bands trying to sound like Incantation obviously don't like Incantation as much as they should. Father Befouled is great!

Can't stop listening to them. Every album is just fantastic. "Obscurus Nex Cultus" is my favorite right now though. Got the CD last week and been listening to it nonstop since then.

I disagree that comparing Incantation, Cruciamentum and Father Befouled "isn't even remotely logical". In my opinion all three pretty clearly play a similar style of death metal. That Cruciamentum also have influences from Demoncy and Demigod is helpful in that they escape being a pure carbon copy of a single act, which is Father Befouled's problem.

Also, Cruciamentum is just as much influenced by Demigod as they are by Incantation, so a comparison to FB isn't even remotely logical

I'm a sucker for this genre but it's almost impossible to listen to this band because they're so offensively derivative of Incantation. In song names, in concept, in music, in production, in vocals. It's almost a parody. I was hoping the new album would give them a modicum of their own identify but it just doesn't. Indulgence of Abhorrent Prophecies vs Deliverance of Horrific Prophecies? Come on! Cruciamentum & Grave Miasma are much better in this style without just being a total carbon copy. I don't really understand why people would make a project like this. I mean, what's the best that can happen: you get recognised as good footnote to Incantation. Sucks. Hope next time they develop something a bit more interesting!
