Farhan Akhtar (Hindi: फ़र्हान अख़्तर, Urdu: فرحان اختر, pronounced [fəɾhaːn əxt̪əɾ]) (born 9 January 1974), is an Indian film director, producer, actor, writer, and playback singer. He is the son of well-known scriptwriter, poet, and lyricist Javed Akhtar and renowned screenplay writer Honey Irani; his stepmother is the actress Shabana Azmi. He is the brother of director/screenwriter Zoya Akhtar. He is also the grandson of Urdu poet Jan Nisar Akhtar and the cousin of Bollywood film director and choreographer Farah Khan. He has recently announced a project as playback singer with A.R. Rahman.
