Brooklyn, NY, USA (2007 – present)

Fan Death is string-driven collaboration, between Dandilion Wind Opaine (of Dandi Wind), Marta Jaciubek-McKeever & producer Szam Findlay - plus Marlene Ginader (violin) & Tony Dallas (drums). It was founded in Brooklyn, NY, USA (in 2007).

To date, they have released two 12” records: Veronica’s Veil on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sounds imprint and Cannibal on Tokyo based Big Love Records. They have a 5 track EP titled “A Coin For The Well” out on Pharmacy Records (released early 2010), that was mixed by longtime DFA in house mixer Eric Broucek, with additional mixing by Simon Bookish. In August 2010, they released their debut album titled “Womb of Dreams”.

    I didn't even see this until now! I know there was some drama a little while back, but I didn't think it would come to this. Luckily, he hasn't asked me to take the video I made for Jealousy down. Check it out on youtube! The original Fan Death! I'm also quite pissed to see that dandiwind.com is gone//////////////

    That press statement is a sad/bitter way for fans to hear about their break up. Capitalizing on Fan Death's name/brand to publicize a project that's not Marta and not Dandi is really quite lame of Szam. Still, I hope I manage to keep track of each of their trajectories.

I'm not sure what the tits is happening here but it seems Szam has started to think way too much of himself and his draw sans Dandilion, without whom I doubt Fan Death would have even 1,000 listeners. And if this is all true, which I'm holding out some skepticism for, it would also mean that Dandi Wind is no more, which is more than enough to turn me violent. I was telling myself that the "sssistersss" thing was a concept and they were doing personas and playing with their entire image, by no means unheard of, but uhhhhh... yeah, if this is true and Dandilion and Szam are no more, my calendar is reading September 11th.
