Brantford, Ontario, Canada

While still in his childhood, Adam King (aka Sabbatical) was already writing songs, mostly pieces about jungle birds, sunrises, Jesus and the occasional coup-d’etat. At age 18, he moved back to Canada, and met Jared Korstanje (bass), Michael Nicholson (guitars/vocals), and Jon Grime (percussion/vocals/keys) in the city of Brantford, Ontario, Canada. False Heroics became a fixture in the scene that built up around local non-profit indie venue, The Ford Plant (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ford_Plant), through their early years. In 2003 they toured the east coast with their first EP, Stars Gone Black and then recorded ‘Dry Bones’ for a compilation, but then went into hiatus after guitarist Mike Nicholson was diagnosed with germ cell cancer and went into treatment.

After Nicholson’s recovery, they began recording again in 2005, to eventually release 2007’s The Salvation Navy, a full-length album written throughout the band members’ post-secondary studies and singer Adam King’s run for Canadian parliament as local Green Party candidate.
