Biography

San Francisco, United States (2007 – present)

Fallujah are a Progressive Death Metal band hailing from San Francisco, California. Formed in the California Bay Area in 2007, Fallujah has since displayed a rugged work ethic, investing countless months and weeks on the road in North America and internationally. The band’s commitment to crafting forward thinking music has helped them build their own diehard fanbase from the ground-up through several releases, including 2009’s Leper Colony EP, 2011’s The Harvest Wombs debut LP, and their 2013 Nomadic EP. Now, with their newest work, The Flesh Prevails, Fallujah has ultimately paved the way for a new melodic and atmospheric perspective on death metal.

Explanation of the Name: Fallujah is a city in the Al Anbar province of Iraq that at the time of the bands formation sustained the highest concentration of destruction and casualties on both sides of the fighting. The members of Fallujah have lived the majority of their lives in the post 9/11 world growing up with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as observing the tension between East and West and religious turmoil. The city of Fallujah represents the pinnacle of tensions, hostility and destruction that has come to define the world we live in. To claim that the band has no knowledge of what went on there or is disrespectful is simply an uninformed opinion and irrelevant to the true message of the band.

They made two mistakes on this album: 1. making it a little bit too loud. 2. releasing the best song first. Aside from that I don't see anything wrong with the music. Alone With You is the only track that is pure ambient (like Silent on Nomadic), while all the other songs are beautiful combinations of their death metal and atmospheric style. Remember, you don't have to listen to this if you think it's too happy for you.

after jumping off the hypetrain i have to say its not that good...i love the atmosphere and the mood but there are just too little actual songs...chemical cave is basically just a drum&bass track (with a killer outro riff thou but why not more of that!?), alone with you is cool but to me just a bonus, the flesh prevails is the acoustic-version of the night reveals and the pre released singles were already the album highlights (which are still some of my fav songs by Fallujah)

@Toutatis_ You have a right to have your own opinion, but really, "bullshit"? You seem to be the only one complaining about their new atmosphere. Even every fucking magazine are giving Fallujah 4.5-5/5 reviews on thier latest album ffs. So I wouldn't dare to call it bullshit.

I really don't get all the positive feedback about the new album. I keep listening to it so I can change my mind, but I just can't. It is as if the band became soften, the "happy" vibe along the record is so annoying. I have nothing against atmospheric parts when they add something dark, strange, brutal. Tracks like "The Dead Sea", "Become One" or even the last two minutes of "Venom Upon The Blade" are a perfect example and are way more interesting than the 9 tracks of this new album in my opinion. This is how Fallujah should sound like to me. Bestial screams, fucking blast beats, weird riffs, oppressive atmospheres. Female vocals and happy/slow atmospheric bullshit? just no.

You can't even compare The Faceless with Fallujah to be honest, two completely different bands

it's actually way way better than the last Faceless album. it's got a lot more personnality in terms of composition and production.
