• The Delightful 65 of the 90's! (Best Albums 1990-1999)

    1 Radiohead - OK Computer
Using the textured soundscapes of The Bends as a launching pad, Radiohead delivered another startlingly accomplished set of modern guitar rock with OK Computer. The anthemic guitar heroics present on Pablo Honey and even The Bends are nowhere to be heard here. Radiohead have stripped away many of the obvious elements of guitar rock, creating music that is subtle and textured yet still has the feeling of rock & roll. Even at its most adventurous -- such as the complex, multi-segmented "Paranoid Android" -- the band is tight, melodic, and muscular, and Thom Yorke's voice effortlessly shifts from a sweet falsetto to vicious snarls. It's a thoroughly astonishing demonstration of musical virtuosity and becomes even more impressive with repeated listens, which reveal subtleties like electronica rhythms, eerie keyboards, odd time signatures, and complex syncopations. …

  • Yes, it's back!! October Ninth's Top Ten

    14 Oct 2006, 07:47 by Sarey

That's right folks, my top ten breakdown is back, and better than ever! Actually, I don't know that it's better, I just like to make myself sound better than I actually am. It's quite a serious problem.

    Anyway, onward!

    10. Something Corporate

Look at that. Emo! I'm not entirely sure why Something Corporate managed to get into the top ten, but nevertheless I did enjoy them this week. Only Ashes was a favourite. Hey, maybe it's because I was surfing through Wikipedia and found Andrew McMahon's page and read about his leukemia. Maybe I really do care deep down?

    9. Alice in Chains

What can I say? I am forever an AiC convert. Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell are one hell of a pair. No one will ever be able to replicate the Alice in Chains sound. EVER. Even if they do reform with a new front man. IT WON'T BE THE SAME!

This week I went back to Dirt. And what an album it is. Dark, full of despair and full of gems. Would?, Down in a Hole and one of my most favourite songs ever, Rooster.

Step 1: Open up whatever MP3 program you use and add every song in your collection.
Step 2: Put it on random.
Step 2: Post lyrics from the first 50 songs that are played, no matter how embarassing.
Step 4: Strike/bold out the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

we were searching for a fire
and we settled for a spark
sparks glow like stars in the dark
of course they do just like you

oh a trance is a spell
with a thrill wrapped up inside it
and try as you might to fight it
love will get you in the end
    Lullaby + Exile

in my life, why do i give valuable time
to people who don't care if i live or die
    Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

    betty said she prayed today
for the sky to blow away
or maybe stay; she wasn't sure
    River Man

    come back alive
    when stars collide
    you can feel the universe
    behind your eyes

if i'm so far from your heart, why do i feel it beat?
