F.T Island took a unique approach to the South Korean pop/idol music scene by entering it as an instrumental band, rather than a standard boy band. They emphasized a wish to be recognized, liked, and respected not for their image alone but for their music and their talent. Their debut song 사랑앓이 (Lovesick) was an instant hit, and the band quickly became a household name. The “F.T” in their name stands for “Five Treasures.”
