When every minimal song known to mankind goes on for 20 minutes, repeats the same line ad nauseum, etc., the entire genre loses its originality and becomes banal, restrictive, closed, myopic, when it should be the opposite. Liberation, indeed - modern composition needs to cull through minimalism, take from it the beauty, and move in new, uncharted directions. If you are similarly infected, take solace; academia, modern art, etc. generally suffers from the same aesthetic hubris.
