Father of Mine was one of Everclear’s greatest hits, appearing on the Album So Much For The Afterglow. The song was based on lead singer Art’s Alexakis’s Father walking out on him as a child, causing most of the issues in his life that followed.
July 4, 2010...my biological father was admitted to the hospital for the last time. A lifetime's worth of hard partying and not taking care of himself led to a preventable cycle of heart failure. He owed his five-figure debts, which he tried to dodge by vanishing and working under the table. Up until the end, he was still cheerful, amible, fun-loving...and completely without a shred of good sense. Thank you, Everclear. Your old man must have been a lot like mine.
