Evan’s music is inspired by a diverse set of artists and he is known to cover songs by a range of musicians from Van Morrison to D’Angelo to Ryan Adams to Big Star. His style is confined neither to folk nor to pop nor to country, but rather he borrows from all these genres to create a sound that is quite his own. His songs are structured around distinctive acoustic guitar rhythms and deeply introspective song lyrics. With his rich, soulful voice Evan expresses the desire to be whole, to be completed, but by the right person.

A product of the suburban southeastern Pennsylvania countryside, Evan has been playing and writing music since he was 13. He is a primarily self-taught musician but he has picked up a few things along the way from his guitar-playing father. He founded a club in high school - ECHO - that recorded music written and performed by other students, and produced a CD featuring all the local aspiring artists (including Adam Arrigo of The Main Drag and Terry Rose).

Most of Evan’s initial stage experience was at the open mic nights at the legendary Point in Bryn Mawr, PA. While attending Haverford College, he was a regular performer at Haverford and Bryn Mawr College and at local Philadelphia venues. Additionally, he was co-founder and co-president of the student-run Black Squirrel Records and Atlas Studio.

In 2004, Evan formed Evan & The Argonauts with drummer Rob Korobkin (of Boston’s Facing Heroes), bassist Will Longo and lead guitarist Joe Chai (of Philadelphia’s Miss Vintage). Up to this point, Evan has distributed his music primarily via the Internet.
