About This Track

This one started as a CD swap with NisaMishap, who tends to like her music on the dark and moody side. I put together some electronic tracks of this ilk and the result was satisfying enough to base a whole mix around the concept of dystopia.

I fully appreciate that this will not be to everyone’s taste, as it spans a lot of different genres, from electro to techno to drum & bass to distorted guitar drones to industrial to dark ambient and many things in-between. It’s also relentless in its devotion to the gloomy, melancholic or downright angry side of the music that I’m into. But there’s also a great beauty in all that.

A mix and a half, my good fellow. Thanks very much for this. Took me a while to realise that you'd sent me a message, hence only listening my way through it now. I'm only up to the third track and I am, like the crowd in Barry McGuigan's Boxing on the CPC464, already "ecstatic".

Oh it's all done in software, I wouldn't be able to do a mix like that by hand! I'm using a program called Mixmeister, which has its flaws, but I still prefer it to Ableton.
