Slothalot... is worst comment I ever read here, it's a misogyny way to thinking. Female voice are great in metal, a perfect fit !!!!

Female vocals have no place in metal. Otep notwithstanding.

I kinda agree, this song would've been better with female vocal only. The growling fits really well in other songs tho. Especially Chapter V and XI

It's the contrast of brutal and soft vocals that accentuate the instrumental qualities. Excellent tune!

This music is pure amazement to me. The classical and folk music mixed with doom metal. It makes for such a great atmosphere and sound.

Doom metal doesn't necessarily have harsh vocals. Trad-Doom and Epic doom, the roots of doom metal, don't use harsh vocals.

I honestly think the song would work better with just the woman singing. The harsh vocals aren't very well placed. They work fine on the other songs though imo. And just a side note: Thats not some failed attempt at black metal vocals, those are used by many gothic metal bands in that fashion. Its not high shrieking akin to BM. The band Empyrium uses those too, they work very well for them. Try the album 'Songs of Moors and Misty Fields'. Great Gothic/Doom/Folk. @Those 'its because its metal' comments: Most styles of metal don't use those vocals, so what are you trying to get that across?

i don't agree these vocals are weak vacantwinterday - okay, they're not the best doom metal vocals around but when they kick in this song really comes alive - if it continued with the same female vocal line throughout the song would be a pretty weak piece of folksy, medieval rock - i like this band's attempts to combine doom metal with a 'classical' approach

you should not listen to metal if you don't like it ... very simple.

I agree with Revenant42 actually, those vocals are pretty weak. The attempts at "black metal" vocals hurt the album. Either do the death growls (which are slightly better) or let this woman sing alone.
