Ephraim Lewis was a British R&B singer from Wolverhampton (near Birmingham). He was born in 1968 and died in violent and mysterious circumstances in Los Angeles 26 years later after having released just one album: Skin. He was in the middle of recording new material with Los Angeles producer Glen Ballard. Seven songs were ultimately recorded with Ballard before Lewis took his own life by jumping off of a balcony at the Argyle Hotel. Just a few hours earlier, Lewis had finished the vocals on one of his new songs.

I think this song is beautiful and haunting; read about his tragic (and mysterious) death; like jbrotherlove, I think about what might have been.

"It Can't Be Forever" pulled me from the edge once or twice in my life. I guess that's irony for you. He is really missed.

"Drowning in Your Eyes" is an absolutely entrancing song, and I never would have been aware of it if a local station hadn't spun it a few times. It takes me to such a place of peace that it is hard to fathom the violent ending to Lewis' life.
