EOhippus is a Denver, Colorado, USA, based quartet creating instrumental, melody driven tunes scored on a framework of Latin, Funk, Swing and modern rhythms. Compositions are structured to allow improvisational soloing and rhythmic interpretations while avoiding musical clichés. You would NOT call this smooth jazz, but it does share some of those principals without the over production and saccharine melodies. Rather EOhippus (named after the prehistoric horse) puts together a fresh, straight-forward, unpretentious variety of musical styles and influences.

They call it Neo-Swing-o-Latino-Funk-oh! Most of the pieces are upbeat, toe-tapping – maybe even hip-shaking stuff, but they do venture into more moody territory as can be heard in Under a Crescent Moon.

Their second album, Get On (2010) follows Evolution a self-released disc in 2002. Engineered by guitarist Bill Kerr, Get On features live, basement-studio recorded drums by Bruce Crisman, with bass by George Brangoccio and the keyboard work of Jim Robischon. Of the 11 tracks, 7 are Latin based rhythms, 2 are Contemporary and 2 are Swing.

The group actively performs in concerts and occasional nightclub appearances along the Colorado front-range, in mountain resorts and on the western slope wine region. You can learn more at
