Well @stillstellung all I can tell you is that in Iceland the correct way to write it would be "Lifandi líf undir hamri", however Enslaved aim at creating the viking ages atmosphere and during that era the word "líf" translated to life could have been written that way as well although I'm not sure. But reading through the lyrics I can see that they are written in modern grammar and would therefor asume its "líf". Anyway its pronounced the same since in this particular word the "f" is pronounced as "v". Hope this ambiguous answer helped

Dunno, the lyrics on this album are in Icelandic... Don't think the guys in the band know either. Is it important?

Question for the Norwegian speakers: is the correct title of the first track "Lifandi lif undir hamri" or "Lifandi liv undir hamri"? In the booklet it says "lif" but on the back cover and disc it says "liv".

This has long been for me one of those albums that I always forget is amazing, but this past year or so I recognize that fact at all times. But still, even recognizing it's one of the best, every time I listen to it I'm still shocked by how good it is. Definitely in the top five best black metal albums. It's underrated, but somehow that seems appropriate, like this is the last of the great bm records one finds, and is it ever fucking amazing. I agree with Luuttuaja, that there's some definite psychedelic stylings. I'm strongly reminded of The Doors, with the long moments of hypnotic musical wandering, even though I'm doubtful there's any influence from them.
