Enrico was born in Florence in 1969, the great-grandson of a Jewish-Russian refugee who served as cantor in many Italian synagogues. After a variety of musical experiences in groups ranging from funk-rock to contemporary music (with pauses to complete a degree in physics) the encounter with klezmer and yiddish song directed him back to his roots. Since then, he has devoted himself to new interpretations of the Jewish cultural tradition, finding a path between “radical” and traditional, which uses both music and musical theater as means of expression. In addition to performing, Enrico devotes much time to teaching - among his engagements, he regularly holds since 2003 a Jewish Music workshop at the Bertinoro Summer School of Music, and teaches History of Jewish Music at the University of Jewish Music in Rome.

He has performed as a singer and as a flutist with a variety of bands throughout Europe and North America and has created a number of theatrical productions. On the column on the left you can find links to many of his different projects; as a brief summary, he has written the musical plays “Lokshen / Patrilineare” (1998 - published as his forst solo CD in 2000 for Materiali Sonori), “Lev” (1999) “Purimshpil!” (2000), “Yonah” (2002 - awarded a grant by the European Association for Jewish Culture); for the play “Le Ombre” (the shadows) he was awarded in 2003 the special Marisa Fabbri prize by the Premio Riccione
