“Empirion” formed in 1993after Austin Morsley (aka “OZ Morsley”)who is now KLOQ, Greatly missed Bobby Glennie who sadly passed away and Jamie Smart who is now working on a new project called Controlled change met each other on the Essex club scene.
To begin with the band self published through their own “Wanted” label, but with the success of “Narcotic Influence” the band soon signed to “XL Recordings”. Often overlooked in favour of label mates “The Prodigy”, Empirion certainly had an influence at that time, fusing hard techno and industrial with acid house - the sound of many underground dance venues of that period.
In 1997 they released their debut album “Advanced Technology” through Beggars Banquet in a major label deal. They disbanded shortly after the release due to the loss of Bob Glennie to illness. Sadly, Bob passed away in January 2005.
Debuting with the acid-trance rocker “Narcotic Influence”, which was voted one of the 100 greatest dance singles of all time by no lesser an authority than Mixmag, Empirion formed in 1993 at an Essex club featuring resident DJ Jamie Smart.
