Biography

With a hybrid accent that tells the story of a life well traveled, Emi Green is an interesting new installment to the world of music.

Daughter to a missionary pilot, Emi spent her childhood traveling the globe. Clocking up 9 schools and countless homes in third world countries and the like, she eventually settled with her family in Perth, Western Australia when she was 10. She didn’t lay dormant for long…

Finishing school early at 16, Emi turned down a place in medicine, packed her bags and moved to Sydney to study full time at a dance academy. Getting her first break as an actress at 17, Green worked solidly for a few brilliant years, treading the boards and screens the world over in music theatre, theatre and television roles, (Home and Away, The Bill, etc).

Through all this Emi’s home had always been her music. Sitting at the piano and singing or writing songs had been a therapeutic but very personal catharsis. All at once, however, in 2009, the lightbulb moment struck, and Green made the risky but determined choice to leave a thriving acting career and pursue music. Leaving the cast of a UK tour, Emi moved to a narrowboat in deepest Wiltshire to find her sound. There away from the big smoke, friends and electricity, she put her head down, honed her voice and wrote. A year later with a sack full of songs, she headed back to London town to make music her business.

The journey has been swift. After a couple of years of relentless gigging across the UK with her slick band of merry men, Emi’s name was slowly being whispered around London. Finding a creative niche in songwriting, Emi then penned herself a publishing deal with Albert’s Music in Sydney, Australia (Home to ACDC, Gotye, etc) as a songwriter.

Since her signing, Green hasn’t stopped. With an ever building catalog of songs in every genre, and a similarly expanding resume of cuts with artists across the world (see The Songwriter page for more), Emi is now pleased to announce that plans are underway to release her very own debut album “Letters”.
