EMEEZO (born Eric Jackson in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Charleston, SC) is a singer and producer of Hip Hop, R&B, and Neo-Soul Music. He was introduced to music at a young age through church in the choir and chorus at school. He was a member of First Impression a, R&B singing group, where he sang and wrote songs while in high school. He learned about producing music by watching the production aspect of their recordings with local DJ Shawn Dolby and has been producing ever since. Jackson worked several odd jobs while attending college and pursuing a recording career. Eventually he was approached by an Army recruiter who told him, “Look, buddy, you can serve your country, go to college, and save money for your own recordings in one place- the Army”. Jackson enlisted in the U.S. Army and slowly began buying one piece of equipment at a time for his studio. While stationed in Fort Hood, TX the events of 9/11 took place and Jackson had to focus on the first promise from the recruiter “serve your country”. During “downtime” in Iraq, Emeezo continued to perfect his particular blend of Hip Hop, R&B, and “whatever feels good” music. Emeezo coined the phrase O.I.F. (Operation Intellectual Freedom) because of his refusal to be painted into to a corner and limited to one style. Jackson is still a member of the U.S. Army and writes, produces, and records independently. Loss 4 Words is a the first recording Jackson has done since Operation Iraqi Freedom and is a collaboration with another Indie artist O. VIC.
