From his stage work I have only Othello. Is there anything else that got released on CD? Oh, and Sphere is one of my favorites of his. That score needs an extended release, really - a lot of great music was left out on the short score album. I really wish somebody gave him the chance to score something big. A historical epic or fantasy film or something :)

Ooh and one more thing, you MUST hear his score for the movie Cobb with Tommy Lee Jones in. Its absolutely awesome. If you cant buy it anywhere send me a message and Ill see about giving a link to it... :)

Agreed with innercities on the In Dreams score. its so beautifuly menacing. It kind of reminds me of the heat score with the guitar work. I think another amazing score of his that may be overlooked is Sphere from 1998. Its perfect music for that kind of film, he always hits the right buttons and notes. :)

I agree although he does have operas and stage work he does too. But id definately love more film scores from him! :)

3 movies in 7 years? This man really needs more film scoring assignments. Or maybe these days Hollywood has no use for a creative genius of his caliber.

in the context of the dark Goldenthal stuff, the musically upbeat Roy Orbison song in the middle of the In Dreams album goes even further and makes for the most unsettling moment actually. geniously placed.

given the great variety of musical worlds and idioms to which Goldenthal's work may open the ear - I get sick seeing so many Goldenthal listeners otherwisely merely listening to the usual romanticist film music over and over again, and some pop, and nothing else! hey folks, if you don't manage to escape this kind of simplyfying music world with an exceptional, consequently genre-breaking artist like elliot goldenthal, you're caught forever- obviously, there's no understanding and no discovery. well. try john gavanti, the 1981 no wave opera.

'Heat' soundtrack, although by many artists, is a masterpiece... but Elliot composed the main theme, Predator Diorama and Entrada & Shootout (wonderful interlude between New Dawn Fades and completely awesome Force Marker).

the fact that he did Heat makes him a little bit badass.

vote for the one justadrienne suggested, not the Frida album art which should be removed as it is not a picture of him (the artist).
