London, United Kingdom (2001 – 2006)

Electric Shocks (2001- 2006) were a London, UK based garage punk / post punk rock band known for their fast, aggressive, melodic and uplifting musical style, described as “rock n roll the way nature intended”.

They were formed by singer Dan Hardy and rhythm guitarist Dave Taylor of the indie band Tea. Joined by lead guitarist Kaoru Sato (formerly of Six Inch Killaz), the trio began to write new material and seek other members. Dan and Dave left Tea soon afterwards.

Australian bassist Lauren Hughes was an early recruit but left to pursue other projects and for a time, the trio played with temporary members Martin Shaw (formerly of North Eastern band The Revs) on drums, and Dilemmas bassist Phil Clark, with whom a first demo was cut in early 2002. On the strength of this, the band were able to recruit a full time rhythm section and secured a single deal with garage rock label Vinyl Japan.

Jennie Werlemar joined in early 2002 on bass guitar and was quickly followed by John Honeysett, another former Revs drummer. The band’s first gig was in April 2002 at The Bull and Gate in London and they continued to tour frequently around London, the UK and Europe throughout their career, sharing bills with the likes of Electric Six, Bloc Party, Pink Grease, Whirlwind Heat, The Thermals, Selfish Cunt, Art Brut and more.
