Saxophonist/composer Eirik Hegdal has been one of the major forces of the new wave of new exiting jazz musicians coming out of Norway for the past 10 years. He is also currently composing for the new group Brat witch he co-leads with tenorplayer Kjetil Møster. Brat recently released their debut album on the Swedish label Moserobie. Eirik Hegdal has also been leading his group Dingobats who released an album on Jazzaway Records in 2004. Hegdal is a member of the group Zanussi Five who also recently released their debutalbum on Moserobie.

Since 2002 Hegdal has performed/arranged/composed for Trondheim Jazz Orchestra on many occasions. This big band constantly features some of the most exciting young jazz musicians from Norway, and they have performed with pianist Chick Corea at the Molde International Jazz festival in 2001, and in 2002 with guitarist Pat Metheny playing special arrangements of their music. Trondheim Jazz Orchestra will be performing with Chick Corea in New York, January 2006.
