Echoes from Airplanes was officially formed early summer of 2009 when original band members Josh Bach, Peterson Muntzel and Kraig LaRosh found their drummer, Daniel Heidtbrink. The summer was spent working on new song after song until the members decided they were ready to start playing live. After their first show in early August, EFA decided it was time to go into studio and record an intended "3 song EP". Enter BlackLodge Studio in Eudora, Kansas, home to such popular bands as "Motion City Soundtrack, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, and The Spill Canvas". Despite running short on time to record the third song for the EP, the band felt good about the two song studio demo EP and released it not long after on iTunes, Amazon.com, Rhapsody and myspace. Their debut album titled "Echoes from Airplanes - EP" held two of their radio friendly songs "Indieanna" and "Savior", the former song of which has been played on 96.5 the Buzz's Homegrown Buzz on Sunday evenings.
Echoes' members have mentioned more than once that their main influences collectively as a band come from that of "Jimmy Eat World, The Get Up Kids, Foo Fighters and The Appleseed Cast". Individually, the band's members have mentioned band's such as "The New Amsterdams, Superdrag, Death Cab for Cutie, Brand New, The Beatles, Snow Patrol, Yellowcard and many more…" as their main influences for the band's sound.
To this day, EFA is still breaking into the music scene in Kansas City, Missouri. They have recently played and shared the stage at Main Street Cafe and The Record Bar with numerous bands from the nearby area. Upcoming shows in KC and Warrensburg, MO are posted and updated on a regular basis.
