Dustveil is a Russian indie rock band based in a small town of Kolomna near Moscow, with its origin dating back to 2000. It is a band of common thinkers absorbed in work and children yet occasionally finding time to meet and play some stuff.
As almost every other amateur band, Dustveil has passed through a lot of changes and genres, finally coming to the sound similar to the current one somewhere in 2008. Before that, in 2006 Dustveil recorded a DIY EP called ‘Sentimental Lies’ which blended indie rock with art rock and electronic music. It enjoyed limited success among indie circles in Russia, had some rather positive reviews in some Russian (TimeOut Russia, Rolling Stone Russia) and American media (Smother Magazine, Delusions of Adequacy), and was included into one of the ‘Tribute to John Peel’ compilations made somewhere in Britain. Following that the band made a few performances in Russia, including Avant Music Festival in Moscow (a lot of foreign indie acts on the agenda) and SKIF Festival in St. Petersburg (probably the most important international experimental music festival in Russia).
In 2008 Dustveil abandoned electronic sound (by inviting Lev Fomichev) and started to prepare its new record (a compilation of old and new songs) which was recorded in a couple of sessions in May 2009 in ‘live’ mode in our rehearsing room. However the band’s activity was soon suspended due to some personal force-majeure, which was fortunately overcome by the end of 2010. The album was released in January 2011 under the title of ‘Look On Do Nothing’.
