(2000 – present)

Best known as the guitarist from Maxïmo Park and a member of Res Band, Duncan Lloyd is now doing the job on his own. The album ‘Seeing Double’ released October 6th, with a single ‘Suzee’ released on 29th Sept.

He is originally from Derby and moved to Newcastle to paint. In his first year there, Lloyd formed a band in 2000 with his friends which included Archis Tiku. Before the band’s record deal, Duncan worked in many varied jobs whilst writing and recording/producing for the band. Duncan sings backing vocals on the majority of Maxïmo Park’s tracks. He won Lyric of the Year for Maxïmo Park in 2006 on BBC6 music for one of the lines from the song “Graffiti” which he originally penned.

Duncan has a solo record entitled Seeing Double released on Warp Records on October 6, 2008 in the UK. The album was recorded on 8 track in two days by Duncan himself and is a melodic, rocking debut with old and new alt rock influences; described in the UK magazine Mojo as “a solid set of nagging melodies and chiming riffs that burrow into the soul”. A limited addition single “Suzee” preceded the album release on September 29 in the UK.

He is also part of the prolific experimental band Res Band who improvise all songs only once and release them free , there are many albums of original material by Res Band available over the web.

Not as good as the Maximo, but I like Suzee. It cheers me up. I'll give the album a few more spins.

Is he singing as well on this album? I'm not too impressed with his voice if so. The album is just so-so in my opinion. I prefer Duncan's work in MP!
