Starting with an almost purely electronic full length album “mannequin”, the band moved to a more instrument based sound on the three track EP “extended play” including trumpet and bass alongside drum machines and synths.
The aim of Droptear Modelmaker’s live show is to play their brand of ambient electronica, whilst keeping a live, organic feel to the music.
For their third and most recent EP “background noise”, the band came to its full line-up, bringing in guitar, live drums and vocals. With heavy practising and more influence from bands such as Jaga Jazzist and The Cinematic Orchestra, they reworked the songs from “extended play” and added two more, focusing much more on live performance.
The future of Droptear Modelmaker involves lots of performance, bringing in yet more instrumentation; violin, acoustic, percussion, and in time another EP.
“…played hypnotic semi-improvised ambient music which was the sort of thing you might hear in a modern art gallery. Full marks to the guys for trying something so different to everything else in the competition and it was a mesmerizing performance.” - West Sussex County Times
