10 Feb 2008, 07:49 by suutaSat 9 Feb – bodogBATTLE Was quite an evening... First it was a little dull, my sister and I missed a bit, doors opened at 6pm but we only got there at 9pm. We walked into a billingual band's set, and I'm sorry, French may be a nice language at all, but I do not like how it sounds in songs. Not to mention the band seemed at odds with itself, like the members were not playing as one.
The bands that followed were mediocre, good but you wouldn't buy their stuff. Sometimes a catchy "hey this sounds cool" song would pop up. But nothing much, Plight seemed okay. I was impressed with Nicolette Lagace. The band featured a female vocalist/front woman who played keyboards as well as a flute/accordion player. She had a strong voice, her songs were catchy but not repetative/boring. A very clean sounding industrial mix with rock, very nice. The guys from Down In Ashes actually encouraged us to go promote them since they were from Ottawa as well... so it was fun.
9 Feb 2008, 22:15 by suutaI'm talking about my sister in case you are wondering or thinking kinky thoughts.... She's never really been out to see bands live, except the Peaks and then it was rather sedate. Tonight we are going to the bodogBATTLE at Saints so we can see Down In Ashes in action.
I hope she'll be okay. They are playing kinda late and she was really sick yesterday. She said she doesn't want to miss it though and won't stay home.
Well, I have to go... at the risk of sounding too much like a chick: I have to wash my hair.
3 Jan 2008, 04:08 by forkimifiedI saw that last.fm had a group for punkottawa.com (http://www.last.fm/group/punkottawa), so I wondered how many of the bands listed on that website also had pages on here. So, I went through the list on punkottawa, and added artist tags in place of band site links. Some might not have last.fm profiles, and won't have links because of that.
If you're reading this because it showed up under your band's profile, please leave a comment and tell people how they can get a hold of your music!
**People, you might notice that info on a lot of these bands is practically nonexistant, so please contribute to filling out their profiles if you can!!**
...And if you visit their profiles, be a dear and add the 'ottawa' and 'punkottawa' tags! Along with any other tags that reflect their music. More tags, more plays on tag radio, and more people find out about them and what Ottawa has to offer, musically.
Some might have the same name as other bands. But here it goes anyways, the list from punkottawa.com:
