Title track of the debut album by Double THumb, “Nocturne” received critical acclaim by both radio presenters and known producers alike, being played on both BBC Radio 6 and XFM, and praised by Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) as “the most assured debut recording I have heard from a UK artist since The Wizard by Bat For Lashes”.
The track was written by Double Thumb during a sleepless night, and it expresses the artist’s love for everything that is dark, crepuscular, ethereal and dreamy.
“One of my favourite paintings is the “Starry Night” by Van Gogh, and I guess that was a source of inspiration too. I sort of tried to sonically and lyrically describe that dizzy, vivid, breathtaking beauty”.
Tonight the moon is looking down at me
Tonight the moon is looking down at me
I see the moonlight falling down on me
I see the moonlight falling down
And all the stars are swirling round
My eyes can barely see the ground
And all the stars are swirling round
My eyes can barely see the ground
And I think I found myself in your dark eyes
Cut through my fear and pour in some warm light
My heart’s been sellotaped for a lifetime
Cut through my skin, I’ll see through your eyesight
Oh, I am so tired that I can’t fall asleep
A sickly sweetness fills me up, so deep
And still the moonlight’s falling down on me
And still the night is falling down
